new adventures- july 2014

July was even busier than June. At the end of June, the University of Scranton offered me a faculty specialist position in their physical therapy department. In just a month, we pulled everything together and moved to Scranton, Pennsylvania. I will start teaching at the University of Scranton at the end of August full time. I’m really excited about the opportunity to work with some wonderful students and faculty. I’m also excited about having more flexibility to be with my children and being near family and friends. The U is an amazing place with great vision and service oriented learning. I did my undergrad and graduate work there, and I’m blessed to be back there teaching. Temporarily we will be staying with my parents while we’re looking for a house etc. It has been quite a busy month with packing and getting ready to sell our house in Galveston. We’re excited about the future and are praying for God to lead and guide us, preparing the way for us and opening up opportunities for ministry.

It is tough to leave Galveston. So much has happened there, and God has taught us a lot about his goodness over the past five years. We have seen and experienced a lot of growth through difficult situations. We have learned so much more about being a part of the larger church community and have a wonderful group of extended family. It is sad to leave and I pray that we will find new community to share our lives with. We are so grateful to all of our friends and family who helped us pack, finish projects, watch kids, and move. What a blessing you all are to us. We will miss you too!

It is good to be starting a new phase of our lives. Good to leave sickness behind us. We don’t know what the future holds but we are hanging on tight to God. We have found him to be good even when times are incredibly tough. It is a daily struggle to trust, but we’re very grateful God is with us. We are so grateful for the many gifts he has given us, both in Galveston, and now on this new adventure. Looking forward to whatever God has in store!

July highlights:

-Emma’s fourth birthday party- even though her birthday is in August, we decided to have a party with all her friends in Galveston before we left for PA. We had a rainbow themed party and had fun layering the cupcakes.

-After packing up our house, we stayed with the kids’ Galveston grandparents Molly and Clint for the last week in Galveston. Thanks so much for opening your home to us and for blessing our lives by loving our children.  We have had wonderful loving help with our children while living in Galveston.  We are going to miss Gammie, Robert, and Lucy too!  Thanks for all the date nights.

-My cousin Cassie and Pat got married in PA.  Tim and I did the service together which was fun.

-After the wedding weekend, Tim went back to Galveston to drive a uhaul and the rest of our stuff to PA.  So grateful for all his hard work.  Meanwhile, I have been taking care of all the other fun details of relocating.  Looking forward to moving into a house in September hopefully!

-Lots of other PA pics and adventures coming soon!IMG_0387  I’m very grateful to my family for all of their help watching the children while Tim and I finish moving!  Feeling very very very blessed, grateful for cool weather, and excited for settling down again soon!

Happy Summer!

Emma had her first full month off of school.  She enjoyed staying home and playing with her Daddy and Nathan.  Daddy bought the Candyland game, which is Emma’s new favorite.

Seems like everyone’s favorite past time was chasing bouncy balls around the house.

The kids also loved playing in the pool on our back porch.  They play with squishy balls, the slide, and watering cans.  Both love water and Nathan likes to try and drink it.

We planted a few flowers and Emma is good at helping water them

Nathan enjoys books a lot more and points to find out what things are

Nathan spins in a circle to music.  He can make 2 rotations before getting dizzy.

Emma and Nathan enjoy ice cream and popsicles to take off the summer heat!

As always the summer is flying by– At the time of writing this post, I can hardly remember June at all….0404141237-00 0509140710-01 0509140712-00 0510141259-03 0511141924-00 0511141929-00 0516141601-00 0609142014-00 0704141126-00 0706141924-00
